Board of Nursing Seeking Individual for Nurse Practice Consultant Position

The State Board of Nursing is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a Nurse Practice Consultant position. This position is located at 4747 N 7th st, Phoenix.

This position is open until filled.

The responsibilities of this position are to conduct investigations of RN/LPN applicants/nurses who are candidates for the Chemically Addicted Nurse Diversion Option program (CANDO), a non disciplinary, confidential monitoring program for chemically dependent nurses, who meet the eligibility/admission criteria for CANDO and volunter to enter the program. They will need to prepare case reports and present cases to the Board of Nursing for disciplinary action. They will conduct investigations in cooperation with othr regulatory or criminal justice agencies. Must hold a current RN license  and hold a Master's degree in Nursing or a related health field.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Extensive knowledge in the area of chemical dependency.
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques/principles for conducting effective interviews.
  • Knowledge of concepts, terminology and meaning of ARS's/Rules relating to the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Knowledge of the methods and techniques of legal research and the use of statutes, codes, and other legal resources.
  • Knowledge of the methods, techniques and principles for writing investigative reports.
  • Knowledge of the jurisdictions of local, state, and Federal cours and related criminal justice agencies, medical terminology, and investigative techniques and methods.

SKILLS:

  • Skill in extracting and utilizing information from statutes, court decisions, legal documents, and related records.
  • Skill in interviewing and eliciting informtion in a legal investigation.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations, as applied to interaction with respondents, complainants, employers, other state boards of nursing, representatives of courts and government agencies.   

ABILITIES:

  • Ability to prioritize, plan, analyze, and coordinate a case load.
  • Ability to produce timely and accurate reports and documentation.
  • Abilities in computer operation, and in presenting cases in a Board meeting or hearing.
